The Sealey Challenge Day 18: Fairy Tale Destruction: A Book of Dark Poetry by Erik Straker
I listened to this collection in the car, and I admit that if you are looking to hear about fancy dresses and glittering wings--this is not it. I found the collection cathartic. Sort of an explanation to my own past ruminations on about 10,000 trigger warnings. I have written dark pieces and hidden them or burned them--erased them as if that made the words leave my blood. Erik Straker has the bravery to throw out all the words we associate with horror and violence--both self-inflicted and wounding others. Beware of the language--there should now be trigger warnings as well. This is an older collection when trigger warnings were less common--and I admit, if you are seeking dark fairy tales--you know the triggers that are found in the dark.
