The Sealey Challenge Day 15: A Rose By Any Other Name by Mary McMyne
I admit that this book inspired a great passion in me. I listened to the audiobook enrapt by the characters and how strong their emotions were--how real they felt. Authenticity is both one reason I do and do not read large works. The more authentic a book is--like this one--the more I feel and become part of the world. Arguably this is pleasurable to some. I hurt too much as characters bleed. On the other hand, if a book is inauthentic, I cannot bear the assault to the senses and stop immediately. While I physically hurt because I felt so near to the characters and their emotions, I loved it and finished with well-earned relief at how wonderful and real it had been. A marvelous read!
