Breaking Writer's Block

I was talking with my mail carrier, when I realized that everyone has some block or other keeping them from writing. Maybe their story isn't good enough. Or maybe the plot is too loose. Thousands of reasons. My mail carrier wanted to get back into writing and my first suggestion for her was to create a character.

Characters are the backbone of story.

I also told her that it was fine if SHE was the character. I find it fun to create characters with my problems that aren't me. For example, what would a troll do on a bad day, or when they got a pimple. Well, a troll would have a very different reaction. Explore this.
